동동 (Dong-Dong), created as the identity for the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) 2025 in Seoul (서울), explores typography as a system of connection. Drawing on elements of the Korean national flag and Hangul, the Korean script, the design moves beyond static text to create forms that interact across space, material, and media. Letters are repeated, arranged, and transformed into patterns and structures that can be seen, touched, and experienced.
Rather than serving as a fixed logo, the identity works as a flexible visual system that adapts to different formats, from print to spatial installations. The concept of “Dong-Dong (동동 in Hangul, Korean script),” meaning movement and exchange, reflects the flow among people, ideas, and cultures. Through this approach, typography becomes a shared visual language that emphasizes connection, rhythm, and participation.
