Five Years in the Field, a 24-page risograph zine, marked five years of business as a small, woman-owned creative studio. Resembling a collection of ephemera, gathered in a personal scrapbook, the zine embraces the imperfections of riso—smudged ink, subtle misregistrations—as a reflection of the studio’s ethos: progress over perfection. Romie’s elegant flourishes (by type designer Margot Lévêque) are in dialogue with the utilitarian structure of PP Right Grotesk; the type voice is expansive and elegant, while steadfast and smiling. Featuring thread-bound nested sheets and collage-driven spreads, the piece transforms five years of reflections into a tactile, typographic exploration of the studio’s evolving philosophy and values.
