Developed in close collaboration with each department, the Cranbrook Graduate Degree Exhibition book and accompanying museum exhibition identity honor the work of the graduating cohort while embracing process, experimentation, and dialogue. Workshops were held to allow each student to make their mark on their spread by literally making marks which related to their practice on a page that was scanned in and superimposed on their spread. Built as a flexible system rather than a fixed template, the design adapts to each artist’s practice without flattening their differences. Through shared prompts and collective mark-making, the project moves between individual and communal authorship, resulting in a system that feels layered, responsive, and alive.
